Rookie Tyler Spurgeon finishes first in Training Camp fitness testingTyler Spurgeon: Assigned to Springfield. Flat out great camp for Spurgeon. I visited the facility where he trains (Athletes Nation in St. Albert with Dan Lajoie) about a month ago and the guys raved about his work ethic. When he arrived in camp the Oilers brass raved about his work ethic, too. He was on the top of charts at the pre-camp fitness testing and had a great showing in his final pre-season action last night; he was probably the Oilers best forward in a 4-0 loss to Calgary. If he can stay healthy, he'll be an excellent player for Springfield this year and on the radar for a callup. Spurgeon was a classic example here of a guy who used training camp to raise his stock considerably.
